Consider These 3 Factors Before You Buy A Phone Plan

Consider These 3 Factors Before You Buy A Phone Plan

When it comes to picking a new phone plan, it might be difficult to narrow down your options when there are so many phone plans and carriers on the market. Do you want a feature-heavy unlimited plan or a budget-friendly plan that gets the job done? Is coverage an important factor to consider, or is it all about the price?

Here are the top 3 things to consider before you choose your new cell phone plan:

Cost of The Plan

You’ll be able to shortlist your cell phone plan search to a more manageable set of options once you’ve clearly established your financial boundaries. Set a maximum price that you don’t mind paying every month. However, set realistic expectations- if you want to spend a maximum of $50, you might have to compromise on some features (like hotspot allowances or entertainment perks) and choose a plan through an MVNO. However, if you want to pay more for more benefits, you can browse through plans by T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon.

Full-Speed Data

Data speed is another major factor to consider when choosing a phone plan. All the major carriers including Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile offer full-speed data. Even though most small carriers offer full-speed data plans too, some providers limit speeds on certain phone plans.

Keep an eye out for phone plans with low data deprioritization thresholds. Data deprioritization occurs when carriers reduce your data speeds once you’ve consumed a certain amount of data in a month. These thresholds differ from plan to plan and carrier to carrier.

Mobile Hotspot

Another factor to consider is whether a plan gives you mobile hotspot allowance. Mobile hotspots let you use your data as wireless internet, which allows you to connect your laptop, computer, or tablet to your data wherever you are. If you’re someone who likes to stay connected on-the-go, this is a good perk to look out for.

Some other factors that you should also consider are international calling allowance, entertainment features, and travel benefits.
